The Cascade Doors

The client wanted the front of the house to sound like a bell when it closed. We carved the falling-water relief into basswood over eleven weeks, took a resin-bonded sand mold in six sections, and poured the pair on a single afternoon so the color would match across both leaves. The patina is a warm liver brown, waxed rather than lacquered, so it keeps darkening with every hand that pushes it open.
